Peterborough Soup Kitchen   Charity No. 1172557

VOLUNTEER

We prepare soup, tea, coffee, hot and cold drinks and a variety of sandwiches in our kitchen. These are taken by our adapted mobile serving van to Wellington Street Car Park in the centre of Peterborough, postcode PE1 5DU.

We serve between 35 and 60 clients each day. Our principle aim is to ensure that homeless and disadvantaged people in Peterborough receive hot food and drinks each day, throughout the year, whatever the weather conditions.

We have 24 teams of loyal and dedicated volunteers comprising of a minimum of 4 members. We operate 6 days per week, 52 weeks per year; evenings Monday to Friday and Sunday afternoons. This is a substantial year-round commitment.

Our clients are the homeless and disadvantaged people of Peterborough and the surrounding area, as people will travel to eat the food and drinks we serve.

They are male and female, young and old, with many common factors – that they are usually homeless, poor, vulnerable people and very hungry.

To the people who we serve food to we make a vast difference.

Due to the large volume of volunteer application forms received over the Christmas period we no longer  require new team members, but we hope to commence recruiting again in June 2020, so please contact us then. However, we still require additional van drivers or should you just wish to volunteer for a few hours and work from home, there are there are other roles like cake baking (we supply you with all the ingredients, if necessary) or you could spend a few hours each week in our kitchen to replenish stocks and undertake light cleaning duties etc. Please contact us by email or by ringing 01733 315456.

NOTE: We understand that Peterborough Light Project are currently looking for volunteers and you can contact them by email: or call 01733 560031
