We raised over £40,000
Sleep Rough: 2010 was a tremendous success, on many different levels. 135 amazing people decided to join us and sleep rough in November. They spent one night experiencing a little of what it’s like being a homeless person. They were raising vital money for Peterborough Soup Kitchen, dedicated to feeding the homeless of this city for the past 26 years.
The 135 people that slept rough were from all walks of life, with individuals, families and teams of local organisations all taking part. We had people that came from Northern Ireland and Manchester. To help create a very special atmosphere we had a local band, The One Eyed Cats, who offered their services for free on a cold night to play in the open air.
They helped make the night a very special one, with lots of people going to bed with great music buzzing in their ears! We offered hot drinks throughout the night from the soup kitchen van, that will now soon be replaced.
Sleep Rough: 2010 took place outside Sainsbury’s in Bretton where we have been Charity of the Year for the last two years. Sainsbury’s Bretton offered all participants a breakfast from the in store Cafe before the store opened.
